The President of the United States holds
the highest office in the country, and is the Chief Executive in
charge, presiding over both the Congress and the House of
Representatives. Since the first American President, George
Washington, took office on April 30, 1789, forty-one more
presidents have been sworn into office for a collective total of
forty-three presidencies. The match doesn’t work does it?
This is why; Grover Cleveland, the twenty-second president was also
the twenty-fourth president who served two separate terms, and the
only president to do so. Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president
of the United States was the only American president elected to
four consecutive terms covering the Great Depression, the bombing
of Pearl Harbor, and World War II. He died shortly after the start
of his fourth term of office from a stroke in 1945.
Lots of great little-known facts about the
American Presidents, from 1789 to present, can be found in the
biographies section at the official website of the White House at
www.whitehouse.gov. Visitors can tour the White House online or in
person, including panoramic views of the grounds and famous rose
gardens. In addition to learning all about the American Presidents,
online visitors can also learn about the First Ladies and the
children who grew up in the White House. Biographical facts and key
events of each President in the United States are featured at
www.americanpresidents.org, in addition to a complete video
archive, a tour of presidential and vice-presidential gravesites,
the American Presidents Portrait Exhibit, and lots more. This is
also a fun way for kids to get in a history lesson without being
extremely bored!
The Internet Public Library features
election results, cabinet members, notable events, and a few points
of interest on each of the presidents can be found at www.ipl.org.
As you can see, websites dedicated to the American Presidents
abound on the internet, and all have some of the same yet different
information available. Sites that feature blogs relating to
specific American Presidents are also prominent, in addition to
history of presidents, the presidency, politics and related
subjects, including biographies for every president. If you want
something more to remember your favorite president by, just visit
his online library and check out the online store if you
can’t physically make it to the library for memorabilia.
Commemorative plates complete with the presidential seal, books,
used autographed golf clubs, etched wine glasses, and personalized
collectibles are among just of the few items available for purchase
to remember your favorite American Presidents. |

At the time of introduction in late 1907
the carnival glass was called as Iridescent Ware. However, people
started using the name carnival glass only after collectors in the
1950s began to refer to it as such. This innovative glassware made
in highly patterned moulds had a vivid metallic sheen of changing
hues on pressed glass articles. Iridescent Ware got the metallic
sheen from a special spray of metallic salts on the glass while it
was very hot.
Carnival glass is a colored, inexpensive
pressed glass that was used to make both functional and ornamental
objects. It can be found in a wide range of iridescent colors.
Carnival glass is sometimes called dope glass by glass workers
because doping is the process of applying the color to the glass
surface. Carnival glass production started in 1907. It was used in
production of many different pieces and in more than 150 patterns.
However, since it did not command the prices expected, it was
subsequently discounted.
The glass is produced in various
translucent colors. Primarily amongst these are amethyst, marigold,
cobalt, green, and red. Sometimes it is also made in opaque white
which is called milk glass. A semi-transparent or translucent
pale-green hue was also available before the widespread knowledge
of radiation hazards. this glass was called Vaseline or uranium
glass. Both of these contain traces of uranium salts which gives
the glass a faint green glow when exposed to UV light.
Among the greatest producers of this type
of glass was Millersburg glass Company in Ohio. The first glass
products by that company were crystal however the Millersburg plant
decided to follow success for iridescent glassware. So in the
beginning of 1910 the Millersburg Company started its line of
Radium glasswares
The prices of Carnival glass vary widely
depending on their quality and availability. This glass is a highly
collectible item with some of the pieces worth very little, while
other, rarer items command thousands of dollars. There is a very
active market for this item since it has become an antique glass
collectible.
Identification of carnival glass is very
difficult task. Most of the manufacturers did not include a
maker's mark in their product, while the others did so only for
part of the time they produced the glass. To identify this glass,
one has to match patterns, colors, sheen, edges, thickness, and
other factors from old manufacturer's trade catalogs, other known
examples, or other reference material. Since many manufacturers
produced close copies of their rivals' popular patterns,
identifying it is a challenge even for an expert.

Carnival glass originated in the early
1900s, and production waned in the mid to late thirties. The bowls
of carnival glass are part of a larger collection of collectable
items known as carnival glass. Carnival glass is coated with
iridescent, giving it an oil-like sheen and this glass is
inexpensive. This process is known as doping and hence many leading
glass manufacturers call it "dope glass".
The first, and largest, widely recognized
producer of carnival glass was by the company Fenton. Fenton first
began as a company that decorated blank glass produced by other
companies, and then started creating carnival glass in 1907. When
they started production, Fenton glassware was marketed as "Iridill"
or more simply, iridescent ware. It quickly became a hit and many
other companies began making and marketing their own carnival glass
bowls.
During the Depression in the late 1920s,
demand on products began to decrease which impacted to sales
reduction and partly dissemination of the market of glass
companies. Because of this, some companies started selling
merchandise to extremely low prices, which led to closure of
business, just to get rid of stocks to carnivals which they use as
prizes on games.
Carnival glass bowls experienced
resurgence in popularity during the fifties. The term "carnival
glass" was given to these items by the collectors after learning of
their term as carnival prizes. Reproduction of carnival glass bowls
were started by many companies. To this day carnival glass,
particularly antique Fenton glass, is a prized collectable
Presently, carnival glass can be found in
auctions, antique shops, and online for various prices. Fenton
antique glass fetches high prices, as well as other well-known
carnival glass. Some of the more common colors are marigold, as
well as dark hues like blue and green. The most prized and pricey
kinds of carnival glass bowls are red or pastel colored. One rare
ice-blue plate even sold for $16,327.55 on a popular auction
website!
There are many resources available for a
would- be collector. Many books and websites are available
containing information on antiques, their shapes, colors and where
they came from. A great way to learn more about antique collecting
is through joining organizations of would-be enthusiast.
One great collectible is carnival glass
bowls. These are produced by pressing the glass and coating it
which gives it shiny look. This process is known as doping, hence
this glass is also sometimes referred to as dope glass. Adopted in
the early 1900s it lasted only till the mid to late thirties, and
today is extinct. One company, fenton glassware was marketed as
"Iridill" or iridescent ware. It quickly became a hit and many
other companies began copying them. The demand for their products
began to decline in the late twenties. Today, both the antique
fenton glass and the later styles are prized. |

It is well known that many people enjoy
collecting baseball cards as a hobby. Any collector will tell you
that nothing is more thrilling than finding that elusive card they
need to complete their collection. Baseball card collections are
incomplete without rare, vintage cards. These kinds of cards are,
naturally, worth a lot more.
Most of the "old" baseball cards you will
see today are reproductions of the originals. There are, however,
still a few of the original cards in circulation. Often there are
less than 100 cards left of a given player and year. High demand
for these cards has pushed their prices up, in some cases to
thousands of dollars. The exact price level is determined by
demand, condition, and the number of cards available.
We are all quite aware of some of these
rare baseball cards. You might even remember players such as Honus
Wagner as well as Mickey Mantle and Babe Ruth. These players each
had amazing baseball careers. They were even collectible in the
days while they were still playing!
Because many collectors were only fans of
the game, many of the cards were not protected. This resulted in
many of the rare baseball cards to be damaged. They often had torn
corners and worn edges and often had creases in the middle where
they had been folded, a result of the companies who produced the
cards using poor quality paper.
Unless they have received a large amount
of damage, some of the more rare baseball cards are still able to
cause of lot of excitement when they appear in public. These rare
baseball cards cause such a sensation and are so rare that wealthy
fans and wealthy collectors get all geared up for high stake
bidding, this is especially true for more rare baseball cards such
as the T206 Honus Wagner baseball card.
Topps and baseball cards go hand in hand.
When a trader thinks baseball card they think of Topps. Topps first
produced card sets in 1951 this set was oriented towards the game
and it was a Black and Red set. It was in 1952 when the modern
trading card was brought to life. This card set is the most revered
of sets. Collectors marvel at the 1952 sets history.
Topps baseball cards sets were continued
to be produced by Topps since long back and today it continues to
build on its tradition. With the help of latest technologies and
with a variety of brands in its stable The Topps company is in the
forefront for bringing the next generation of baseball trading
cards.
Wagner and Ruth baseball cards are rare,
therefore it is hard to find a collector who is able to offer
these. Recently, cards collected from the years 1970-1979 have
proven to be of great value and worthy to a collector. Some of the
cards from those years that have shown the most profitable are Mike
Schmidt, Carlton Fisk, Steve Garvey, and Dusty Baker.
MLB cards of 70s are still affordable to
most people even though their worth is keep on growing. Many of the
MLB cards which can be considered as best can be bought under $300.
Since their growth potential is very high they can earn a good
profit to the collector of these cards.
It's well known that many people enjoy
the hobby of collecting baseball
cards. In many of these rare baseball cards you may see worn
corners and edges or even some creases on parts of the cards
itself, due to poor quality cardboard paper. The Topps Company has
become synonymous with baseball cards over the decades. Topps began
to produce baseball cards in 1951, with the Red and Black set. Ever
since that time, it produced its famous topps baseball cards. In
recent years, mlb cards from the '70s have proven to be a great
investment for the common collector. |

A back massage provides welcome relief at
the end of a busy day at work or following strenuous physical
activity. Since a professional massage at a spa or gym can be
somewhat expensive, many people resort to purchasing their own back
massager. Although a personal back massager will not be as thorough
as a professional massage therapist, it will provide a significant
degree of relaxation in the privacy of your own home, whenever you
need it. A handheld back massager or massaging chair can do wonders
to work out the kinks in your back, improve your mood, and
ultimately reducing the stress in your life.
Any nearby retailer can carry a handheld
back massager. All that's needed to start the massaging action is
a few batteries! The firm robber knobs on the handheld unit will
begin to vibrate the knots in your back away--some brands even
offer heat for really deep massaging action into you back muscles
and tissue.
Find a knot or a kink on your back, push
the back massager onto it while it is vibrating and it will go away
in a moment. You may use it on your feet, your back, your leg...
anywhere it can go. It can be a very relaxed day if you ask a loved
person to help you out in difficult places to reach.
A massage chair is another alternative.
The full body massage chair has a number of rollers installed into
the chair's back, and they roll along your spine to remove knots.
There are also hard rubber pieces designed to put pressure on
various places in your back. Some of these chairs have an optional
calf and foot massager, to provide the same services for your lower
legs.
Chairs for massaging usually have
programmes for various kinds of massage, to help eliminating
stress, waking up in the morning or to relax in the evening as
well. Most times, you may even compose your specific programme
which suits your requirements and rubs you in the proper way.
A back massager can be a great
asset in the home to lighten your mood and make you feel the best
you can possibly feel. Inexpensive handheld massagers are readily
available and even work as great gifts on holidays. The more costly
massaging chairs are designed for a deep-tissue massage and really
work out your back. Any one you decide on will be worth it in the
long run!
Expensive massages at spas or gyms are not
viable options for most of us on a regular basis, so why not just
invest the money in your own back massager? Such a device is not
only for the back, but any muscle it can reach, even a calf and
foot massager. There are several choices available to you when
purchasing a full body massage chair. There are different settings
and programs on massage chairs to account for different types of
massage. Try different types and decide what's best for you in the
long time. |

Lots of folks enjoy accumulating and
exchanging silver dollar coins as a pastime. Now is it less common
to see these silver coins at all so it is a thrill to come across
one. Unfortunately, not everyone recognizes rarity and seeing only
the denomination of these coins will have no problem spending them
like any other cash.
A Morgan dollar coin is a silver dollar
that was put into circulation in the late 19th century. It features
Miss Liberty's face on one side, and an eagle on the other. Some
refer to the coin as the "buzzard dollar" because the picture of
the eagle is rather scrawny looking. Even still, Morgan dollar
coins are special coins to have, and because they stopped being
made in 1921, owning one is a unique thing.
There are some people trade coins to
enhance their collection. Collectors may have a coin that is needed
to complete a collection, so they will inquire about what they need
from other coin collectors and offer up what they have. To trade
dollar coins, one needs to possess a rare coin of your own. Most
collectors have multiple dollar coins, including duplicates, so
they never lose the coin for their own collection.
Silver dollar coins can be beautiful. Ones
made of almost pure silver are worth more and are obviously better
looking than those made of mostly copper. The United States
Government has issued commemorative silver dollar coins, as well,
which are released for limited times. Collectors usually save a few
of these coins to trade or keep once they are no longer being
produced.
A coin is worth more if it is older or
less common. For especially rare coins, it does not matter as much
whether they are in good condition. Newer coins, however, will see
their value fluctuate depending on their condition - the better
shape it is in, the more it will be worth. For instance, a Morgan
dollar in Brilliant Uncirculated condition is worth a lot because
it is both rare and in perfect condition.
If you are thinking about starting to
collect and trade silver dollar coins, it's best to do in-depth
research before doing anything else. After all, the more knowledge
you have about coins, the more prudent you will be in buying and
trading them.
Collecting silver dollar
coins is a popular hobby shared by many. Circulated between the
late 19th century and 1921, morgan dollar coins are sought after
due to their rarity. The United States issues commemorative coins
for limited periods, increasing their value. Many people trade
dollar coins in order to get better coins. Older and rarer coins
are worth more, also if it has not been in circulation or is in
mint condition it will be very valuable. Conducting research into
which coins you are thinking about collecting can help you manage
your collection more effectively and gain the coins you wish to
collect. |

One does not use the hot water 24 hours a
day. But, one ends up paying to heat water 24 hours a day. With a
standard water heater, one heat and reheat the same water even when
he is not using it.
One cost effective manner to get hot water
throughout your house is the Bosch Powerstar device without a
reservoir. It works rapidly, and provides almost limitless amounts
of water at your desired temperature. Your bills are also lower, as
only the water is warmed, not the tank and immediate
atmosphere.
A demand hot water heater doesn't heat
water until it is needed, which results in lower energy costs and
greater efficiency. A tankless water heater will usually last for
at least fifteen years, and its life can be extended even further
with just a few easily obtainable replacement parts.
Besides, storage heaters do not last
longer. If proper maintenance is done at regularly, it may prolong
its life without much loss of efficiency. Heaters where tanks are
not used, electricity, propane or gas are used to heat the flow of
water.
When the heater's on, it produces a
constant supply of hot water. The maximum amount of hot water flow
at any given temperature that it can support depends on the
heater's capacity. Gas water heaters usually have a larger
capacity than tankless electric water heaters do.
Tankless water heaters are evaluated by
the greatest rate of current at which a preferred temperature is
encountered. Water heater features include the ability to set a
release temperature. There is also a much higher rate of
effectiveness with tankless water heaters as it reduces the
possibility of standby losses.
The advantage of this kind of heater with
respect to the others is that other Electric water heaters
require a relatively high electric power because water must be
heated quickly to the desired temperature. Residential gas models
are also available which can heat more than five gallons per minute
by 60°F, which is more than sufficient for two showers to be
run simultaneously. One must note that whole house electric units
typically have a capacity closer to three gallons per minute.
It doesn't make much sense to pay for hot
water 24 hours a day when you only use it for a fraction of that
time. Traditional water heaters heat and reheat the same water
constantly, but tankless water heaters don't heat water until it
is needed. Gas operated heaters usually have bigger capacities than
electric powered ones. A cost-effective and waste-minimizing way to
heat your home is the Bosch Powerstar Tankless water heater, which
lasts for at least fifteen years with its original parts. Regular
maintenance extends its life significantly. If you are looking to
save money and energy, buy Bosch Powerstar tankless heater and you
will do just that! |

Animal sports are some of the most
interesting sports to watch in the world because animals are
participating. Human beings are the ones that created all these
sports and the errors should never be blamed on the animals but the
makers themselves. Animal sports are always run by human beings
obviously and each animal competes with his or her trainer that has
trained the animal for the sport for a long time. One of the most
played sports for animals is showing. While many people will argue
for the fact that showing is not a sport the different aspects make
it a sport. The mere competition level is evidence that it is in
fact a sport never the less the actual athletic and physical
motions of showing are not apparent.
Dog showing is one of the most competitive
animal sports there is in the world. While there are different
events in dog showing, the main one is to show off the animal. The
animal must be well groomed and mannered in a way that is somewhat
showing of royalty and respectfulness. The dog or animal must be
very attentive and trained in order to be inspected to the most
interesting levels including grooming and care. The inspection
usually includes full inspections of teeth, fur, and overall
cleanliness. These types of shows must have the animal at top fit
physique as the animal must look like a healthy animal and be well
mannered. An over weight animal will never be accepted into a dog
show and such a misfit would have no place in animal showing. The
overall appearance of an animal is the biggest thing in a dog show
where everything will matter in the end.
Inside a dog show come the more athletic
events that includes going through mazes and being showed at the
show. The mazes are obstacle courses that the animal must go
through in order to be successful and time is everything. The
faster a dog finishes the better place the dog will receive. In
these competitions both animal and trainer must be in top fit
condition in order to finish in a competitive ranking or even first
place. The showing aspect includes a run around where the audience
sees the dog as both the owner and trainer and the dog must be run
around the arena to see how well the dog is mannered in walking and
trotting appearance. Again, both trainer and dog must be fit enough
for the run around because out of shape individuals would surely be
a travesty to the dog show and make a rather interesting spectacle
out of the show. Dog showing is one of the most competitive
competitions between individuals and dogs alike. Dogs are primarily
used over other animals and species because they are some of the
most trainable and well mannered animals to show or place in a
competition.
There are all different breeds of dogs
used for these shows. These shows are also broadcast over
television. Some dog owners spend all of their leisure time going
to dog shows and entering their companion in hopes that they will
win first place.
If your not into dogs then maybe a game of
Billiards is more your thing. Just make sure you
use the official rules of billiards to prevent any
disputes.

Portable DVD players are a good option for
a family taking any kind of vacation, both taking the plane or
taking the car. There is a wide choice of portable DVD players to
choose from in the market, and most have additional features which
are useful for all users.
The first thing one considers when
choosing between DVD portable players is the size of the screen. A
player with a built-in screen is compact and perfect for the road.
Usually, larger screens are better, and smaller screens could hurt
the eyes after prolonged periods of viewing. Although the players
with larger screens can be more cumbersome, the larger screen
allows more people to watch and makes for a better viewing
experience.
Video and Audio outputs available on DVD
players are things to be considered when choosing the product.
Checking the availability of the outputs like S-Video, component
video and optical output for audio with high quality ensure the
best movie experience possible. It is also crucial to check the
availability of video outputs if one does not have a built-in
screen because of the small size of the player.
HDMI-out (High Definition Multimedia
Interface) gives high definition video resolution and high quality
sound on DVD players. HDMI is available on some newer models of DVD
players but usually those DVD players which are used solely for
home entertainment, as HDMI DVD players are not small and portable
and therefore not suitable for in-car players etc. HDMI is
available on some more expensive laptops, but these are not easy to
find. |

Real estate agents frequently offer to
hold an open house when a property is newly listed, but most agents
will admit that an open house isn't a very successful sales
strategy. Somewhere between 2% and 4% of houses listed for sale
sell as the result of an open house. With such a low probability of
success, Fsbo sellers must determine
whether and how an open house fits into their FSBO sales plan.
So why do agents hold open houses? The
open house isn't a very effective tool for selling a home, but it
does bring an agent into contact with people who are looking to
purchase a home. Even if the prospective homeowner isn't
interested in the home being shown, they may be interested in the
agent's other listings.
For both the FSBO seller and the seller
who uses an agent, the question is this: if the likelihood of
finding a buyer via an open house is small, should you hold one? A
real estate agent's goal is to sell a house - and yours is just
one of the many they have listed. As an FSBO seller, your goal is
to sell your house. In either case, the chance that an open house
will connect you to a firm buyer is slim, however you can still use
your home as part of your successful sales strategy.
Today, nearly 8 out of 10 buyers research
homes for sale using the Internet. If you list your home with an
FSBO site, choose one that allows you to include a complete set of
photographs and a video tour. Your prospective buyers may view your
home any time of the day or night. Minimally, your photographs
should show the home's exterior and the major rooms inside. This
includes the kitchen, dining room, living room, family room and the
bedrooms. If the home has a garage, professionally landscaped yard
or other interesting features, these should be captured in
photographs, too.
What about the bathroom? The debate rages
over whether you should show the bathroom in photographs or not. No
one will argue about the value of the bathrooms in a home, and
truthfully, a bathroom can make or break a sale. For a photographic
tour, however, even an outstanding shot doesn't often capture a
bathroom at its best.
Bathrooms have a lot of reflective
surfaces. Tile, chrome, porcelain, marble and mirrors can impair
photographs. Flash units sometimes obliterate the details and
distract from the overall impression you're trying to make. Unless
your bathroom is something truly magnificent, you may want to hold
off on putting photos of it in your tour.
A photo open house doesn't have to show
your home's tiniest details. For the FSBO seller, the purpose of
the photographic tour is to help prospective buyers determine
whether they want to see your home in person. To that end, your
photographs should be good quality images. The lighting should be
sufficient to show the details of each room on the tour. Minimize
the clutter in each room you photograph.
Aside from the photographs, you should
provide the dimensions of each room. You don't have to post a
layout of the home with the listing, but you should have one
readily available for serious inquiries.
As an FSBO seller, feel free to skip the
open house and refer prospective buyers to your online home tour.
Instead, concentrate on creating an attractive online FSBO listing
with good photographs that accentuate your home's most desirable
features. |

Getting into debt is surprisingly easy,
especially when you compare it to attempting to get out of debt. If
you have already amassed a significant amount of debt, high enough
to tip the scales on your debt to income ratio there are a few
things you can do to help but one of the easiest is debt
consolidation. Debt consolidation can be done several ways, which
way you choose depends on the type of debt you have and how you
want to go about getting out from under it.
Types Of Debt Consolidation
There are several different types of debt
consolidation that are for regular debt. Student debt
consolidation follows a different set of rules even if it is the
same principle. The first type of consolidation works by using your
home. In order for this to work, you must have a mortgage on your
home. You cannot already have a second mortgage taken out and you
must have a decent amount of equity in your home. Taking out a
second mortgage or home equity loan can easily allow you to pay off
all your other bills. This lowers interest rates since you are
paying only one and puts everything into the same bill.
The second way is to use credit cards, in
order to be able to do this you must have enough credit left to be
able to apply for Zero APR cards, then balance transfer smaller
balances to the single card. This allows you a certain amount of
time to pay off the debt without having to pay interest.
The third option is to check out a
consolidation company. These companies have strict guidelines so be
sure to look around for one that works for you. They may also
charge fees every month for you using their service and those fees
may also vary.
Any of these three ways can help you
consolidate your debt into something that is manageable for you and
something that can allow you to pay off easily what you owe before
it becomes an overwhelming problem. There are other types of
consolidation options available and counselors that can help you
locate the type of consolidation that works best for you or check
out the internet for more information and options. You can also
check out your local library or public assistance office as they
often can provide additional information to you or give you a place
to start when looking. |

Cooking with beer is rapidly becoming an
accepted fashion. Beer improves the flavor of many other
ingredients.
Chocolate Stout Cake
Ingredients:
¼ cup cocoa powder to dust the
baking pans
2 sticks butter or margarine
1 cup stout or porter
2/3 scant cup Dutch-process dark cocoa
powder
1 scant tsp salt
2 cups unbleached flour
2 cups sugar
1 ¼ tsp baking soda
2 extra-large eggs
½ cup sour cream

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly dust 2 greased 8-inch pans with
cocoa powder.
In a heavy saucepan or microwave oven,
heat butter, beer, and cocoa powder until butter melts. Cool.
Sift dry ingredients together, add the
beer-cocoa mixture and beat thoroughly on medium speed for 1
minute.
Add eggs and sour cream and beat on medium
speed for 2 minutes.
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake at
350 degrees for 24 to 30 minutes.
Place pans on wire rack to cool.
Spread each layer with a thin coat of
chocolate frosting.
Stack the layers and cover the sides with
frosting.
Serve.
Citrus Lager Marinade (Perfect for fish
or chicken)
Ingredients:
1 ½ cup lager
1 tsp cracked black pepper
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
1 stalk lemon grass
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Slice lemongrass length-wise and remove
center stalk and discard outer, fibrous husk.
Coarsely chop stalk and place in food
processor with ingredients.
Blend well.
When settled, marinate fish or chicken up
to two hours – no longer for fish because the citric acids
will cure the fish.
Well these recipes sure do sound delicious
but so do these chocolate cupcake recipes and these cupcake frosting recipes.

Just like drinking beer, the nicest thing
about cooking with beer is that there are no hard and fast rules
attached to it. While you do get recipes that specifically call for
beer, it is not absolutely necessary. All you need to do is take
your regular, everyday dish, replace some or all of the liquid with
beer and watch your ordinary recipe get transformed into an exotic
dish with a unique, one-of-a-kind flavor. Experimentation is key.
Experiment using different combinations of beer with different
dishes and create several variations of the same recipe.
Don’t forget to make notes though. You may need to re-create
the magic several times over if your friends and family call for an
encore.
A simple addition of beer adds body to and
transforms the very character of the dish. It helps enhance the
flavor of some of the ingredients while blending in the other
flavors of the dish. And if you find any of your recipes lack a
certain something that you cannot pinpoint, a little beer will work
wonders and impart that little zing the dish may have been lacking.
Considering that beer is made up of grain, herbs, yeast and water,
it’s like adding several different ingredients at once.
Though the rules of cooking with beer are
not rigid, it will hold you in good stead to keep in mind these few
tips when experimenting with beer.
• Whether you are following a recipe
or creating one of your own, only cook with a beer that you like to
drink. If you do not like the taste of the beer as a beverage,
chances are you will not like it in the recipe too.
• As with any other liquid, the
flavor of beer gets magnified as it evaporates during the cooking
process. Choosing a strong beer to begin with would mean the dish
will tend to have a bitter taste when it’s done. To avoid
this from happening opt for a sweet stout or a beer with a smaller
percentage of bitter hops when using beer to make brown gravy.
• Whether you add beer at the
beginning of the cooking process or at the end depends upon the
dish as well as the type of beer. If you are looking for that
subtle aroma of the hops in your soup, it is best to splash on a
little bit of your favorite light beer when the dish is almost done
and only after you’ve reduced the heat. However, if you want
to impart a deep rich flavor to your stew, you may prefer to add a
darker beer at the beginning and let it cook with the rest of the
ingredients. The end result will be a stew with the sweet, roasted
flavor of barley that is blended in with the flavors of the
remaining ingredients.
• Beer is great for marinating and
tenderizing tougher cuts of meat and is also excellent when used to
glaze poultry and ham.
It's not beer but this
black forest cupcake has brandy in it and this
chocolate cupcake recipe is delicious.

Is it a condiment, is it a sauce or is it
a type of food? The academic debate raging around the
classification of the salsa is as hot as the salsa itself. However,
true salsa-lovers leave the pigeon-holing of salsa to the
academicians, while they heartily tuck into their favourite type of
salsa with gusto. To them, it does not matter what category the
salsa comes under; a salsa by any other name tastes just as spicy!
The versatility and the adaptability of
the salsa makes it an easy dish for even a novice cook to whip up.
Once you’ve got the basics you can mix and match different
combinations of ingredients to create a salsa that has its own
personality. Learning to cook a salsa is not much different from
learning to dance the salsa; it requires a lot of fire and rhythm
and you can innovate as you go along.
At its most basic what you would require
are chopped or pureed tomatoes and finely chopped onions, chilies
and cilantro. Other than that you can vary the techniques and try
out various combinations of vegetables, herbs and spices for salsas
that taste different every time. Of course you’ll want to
write it down so that you’ll remember the proportion of the
ingredients the next time you want to reproduce the very
same-tasting salsa.
In additional to tomatoes, the other
fruits and vegetables that go well in any salsa include tomatillos,
melons, mangos, pineapples, papayas, peaches, plums and cucumbers.
Bell pepper, avocado, jicama, radish and fresh corn kernel add
flavor, texture and color to any salsa. Parsley, oregano, basil and
mint taste exceptional when combined with fresh fruits and
vegetables.
Hints & Tips that will help you
enjoy your salsa journey
The most common reason why people hesitate
to prepare salsa at home is because it does involve a lot of
chopping and slicing, which can be fairly time-consuming. While
some amount of chopping is unavoidable, don’t let that put
you off. Remember, innovation is key when preparing the salsa. If
you are chunky-salsa aficionado, then you would have to take the
time to chop the necessary quantity of tomatoes, garlic and herbs.
For a smoother salsa that tastes just as
good and saves you loads of time as well, puree the tomatoes, herbs
and garlic in the blender. Can't find a big enough bowl –
what about your crock pot bowl. Don’t
forget to toss the garlic and herbs into the blender first, run the
mixer for a while and only then add the tomatoes. Garlic and herbs
are easier to mince or puree without tomatoes, which tend to make
the mixture too runny.
Most other salsa ingredients are better
chopped by hand so you can control the size and shape of the cut
pieces. More than the taste, this has a huge influence on the way
the finished salsa looks when it is served.
Onions have to be diced by hand and never
pureed. Onions that are pulverized in a blender release an
overwhelming aroma that is sure to overpower the whole dish.
Should you cook your salsa or serve it
uncooked? Raw salsa, also called “Salsa Cruda” has a
refreshing, tangy taste. On the other hand roasting the garlic,
tomatoes and chilies will give your salsa a rich, smoky flavor that
is sure to please any salsa-loving palette.
Serve it as it is or go on to use it in
cooking. Salsa adds flavor and texture to many dishes this slow
cooker chicken recipe uses salsa to great affect.
Experiment! Experiment!
Experiment!
Although cilantro is the mainstay of most
traditional salsas, play around with other herbs such as oregano,
basil, parsley and mint to give your salsa a mysteriously different
taste.
As for which type of chili is best, your
only limiting factor is the choice available to you at your local
food market.
Experiment with different herbs and
flavors as well as spicy, sour and sweet flavors. After all,
that’s how all family secret recipes started out.

versatile enough to create a pasta-salad buffet accompanied by iced
tea, fresh fruit and a light dessert.
Here are a few pasta salads that are
perfect for any occasion.

1 large russet potato
1 can (12 oz) solid white tuna in
water
1 cup canned chicken broth
8 ounces green beans
8 sprigs Italian parsley
1/2 tsp. dried thyme, or 1 teaspoon
fresh
1/2 cup black olives
1 medium sized lemon
Salt and Pepper
Rinse green beans and potatoes briefly in
a colander. Cube the potatoes and snap beans into 2” lengths.
Put vegetables together with chicken broth and thyme into a large
skillet, bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover the pan and simmer
about 8 minutes. Drain tuna into a medium-sized bowl. Flake tuna
and add olives and coarsely chopped parsley. When done, add
simmered vegetables and broth from pan.
Just before serving toss pasta into the
tuna mixture, season with salt and pepper and you are ready to
serve. Tuna pasta salad can be served either chilled or at room
temperature.
More Than Salad
And if you tire of pasta salads there are
heaps of other ways to serve pasta and these crock pot pasta recipes are ideal for any
occasion. |

Your patio and porch are part of your home
living space. Patios and porches should be functional
and stylish since they are an extension of the home&rsquos
living area. Designing and furnishing a porch or patio is sometimes
more difficult than other areas of the home because they are
located outdoors. With so many different types of furnishings
available for porches and patios it is important for homeowners to
come up with an idea first and then work towards the end
vision.
Some individuals will want a comfortable
area complete with a hanging hammock chair and a Kingsford charcoal
grill. Some homeowners envision a custom wood deck designed
furnished with bamboo or rattan furniture. Creating a porch or
patio that makes living easy and that reflects your home&rsquos
design is important. If you are happy with your patio and porch
then this is what is most important. Your budget and personal style
must be evaluated first before buying any furniture for your porch
and patio. When it comes to porch furnishings, there are many
options available including custom made porch swings and synthetic
wicker.
Take a look at the options and then buy
what you like that also fits your budget. You can easily design
your porch and patio by keeping these suggestions in mind. It is
great to complete your porch and patio and be proud of what you
have accomplished. |

Halloween is a fun holiday to prepare for
with the kids. There are lots of fun things to do to get ready for
Halloween and get everyone into the spirit of the holiday. A really
fun thing to do the weekend or so before Halloween is to visit a
pumpkin patch so that each of your kids can pick out their own
pumpkin. Then you can go home, make hot chocolate and everyone can
carve their pumpkin. Don't forget to roast the pumpkin seeds! It
will make for a really fun day for everyone.
Once the pumpkins are carved it's time to decorate the house with
spider webs, ghosts, witches and broomsticks. It's also really fun
to record some scary music that you can play whenever anyone comes
over and when the trick-or-treaters come to the door.
Next, the costumes...you can either make them or buy them. I'd
recommend going online for ideas. Once each child knows what they
want to be you can put the costume together with what you have and
then buy or make the missing pieces.
Finally, it's time to send out Halloween ecards to your friends and family so
they know you are thinking of them. This is a great way for the
kids to keep in touch with family and friends especially the ones
they won't get to see on Halloween.
Have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

When you think about all the ways you can
prepare foods in the summer you are probably thinking about
grilling. The smell of the burgers as they get half way done, the
seasoning gently wraps around each patty as it lingers up in the
air towards your nose. Corn on the cob, potatoes, other garden
fresh vegetables with grill marks on it where you have placed it on
the grill it is a beautiful thought. Just because it is fall you
have no reason not to cook on your grill. Grilling outdoors when it
is cool out is the perfect time to grill.
To get the most out of your grilling
experience, here are some helpful hints to getting the best out of
grilling in the fall.
- Layer the bottom of your grill with
fresh herbs like lavender. Use the lavender to send flavor to your
meat. You can also add seasoned wood, like hickory or apple to give
it a grilled season flavor.
- Fix some of your favorite summertime
grilled foods one last time to kick off the new season.
- Don’t overcook the meat. Set
yourself a timer if you are not staying around your grill. You may
forget about it and ruin your dinner.
- Create your own Barbecue sauce to
smother your steaks in.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment.
Sometimes the best discovery was accidental. Try fish, chicken,
beef and more.
- Slowly cook your food. Cooking fast will
only harm the taste. You need to set a low temperature that will
cook the food thoroughly but not fast. This will allow the
seasoning to season your food.
Until now, grilling has been for men. They
brag about their capabilities to grill the best steaks and we have
stood back and said nothing, until now. Women Use the grill more
often now. Women are taking grilling to a whole new level. Women
are joining other women across the US for a barbeque competition.
Cooking on the grill can mean less mess in the kitchen. You can
even buy indoor grills that can replace your mini grill on your
stove because these grills stand alone. The next time friends and
family come over to enjoy a barbeque you can be the one bragging
about it.
Don’t forget dessert. Some of the
best tasting desserts come right off the grill. Grilling fruits and
other desserts gives them a different taste and allows you and your
guest to enjoy a different taste. Don’t shut the grill off
just because your main course is done, add the dessert. Getting
outside even in the fall can give you the fresh air you need to
stay healthy and spend some time with your family enjoying a meal.
While you wait for your food to get done you may decide to play a
game or rake leaves. Enjoy your fall grilling during the middle of
the day when it is the warmest time of the day. You can enjoy more
time outdoors doing whatever it takes to make your fall grilling
fun.
And for those times when you can't be
bothered with the grill a crock
pot beef recipe is just what you need. |

There is a whole host of wonderful reasons
that make laminate counter tops one of the most popular choices.
Whether you are looking for the beauty, versatility, cost, or
maintenance, you will find the laminate counter top the best.
Easily Adaptable To A Variety Of
Different Shapes
The specific style of design of the
laminate countertops makes them readily adaptable to a variety of
different shapes. In order to make these countertops, a sheet of
plastic is put over a formed fiberboard base while laminate is used
to make the surface visible and attractive. You can easily get the
base material shaped and cut in order to accommodate the desired
design for the surface.
Versatility
When it comes to appearance, no other
countertops are as versatile as the laminate ones. Because of their
specific design, the laminate countertops are easily available in a
wide array of colors and surface textures.
Relatively Affordable
In comparison to other countertops, you
will find laminate countertops much more affordable. Therefore, if
you are limited in terms of your budget, there cannot be a better
answer than laminate countertops.
Easy Maintenance
In terms of maintenance as well, the
laminate countertops get an edge over their counterparts. When it
comes to cleaning them, they are the easiest of all the
countertops. All you need is mild cleansers or soft abrasives to
clean the dirty spots and mark ups on your laminate countertop.
However, for stains you should not use harsh abrasives; instead,
you should try using baking soda mixed with lemon juice. They will
do the trick for you in the most efficient and convenient way.
A Word of Caution
If you want to make the best use of all
the tremendous features that a laminate countertop has to offer,
make sure that you keep in mind the following things.
• Scratches caused by any sharp
object on the surface of the laminate countertops cannot be
removed. Therefore, it is better to use proper cutting boards and
prevent the surface of the countertop to be exposed to sharp
objects.
• Since laminate countertops use
formed plastics, they are highly susceptible to burn and scorch.
Once the damage is done, you will be unable to remove the burn
mark. Therefore, in order to avoid the damage, make sure not to use
hot pans or pots directly on the surface of the counter top.
However, the pitfalls of the laminate
counter tops are negligible in comparison to the loads of benefits
they have to offer. In fact, most of the pitfalls are applicable to
almost all types of countertops, but you will not be able to find
all the features of a laminate counter top in any other counter
top. All you need is to take proper care while using it, and you
will find the laminate counter tops a rich addition to your home
improvement. Wherever you need flat surface workspace, laminate
counter top will make the best answer.
The kitchen is almost complete; now all
you need to do ischoose the right rug. |

think most of us can appreciate the need
for some quite relaxation after a hard and stressful day. Some opt
for the benefit of a quick drink as an ideal way to wind down.
However why not choose a more healthy and invigorating alternative
that will literally soak your stress away? One of the best uses you
can make of your outside space is to install your own hot tub.
Imagine just laying back and washing away the troubles of the
day.
The Romans built baths because they
believed in the value of hot springs. There are numerous water
healing facilities available. Hydrotherapy is one of the oldest,
inexpensive and safest methods for treating many common problems
and bringing stress relief.
Hippocrates was a great advocate of
drinking and bathing in spring water 4 thousand years before the
birth of Christ. As you can see owning your own hot tub would put
you in illustrious company.
Thanks to the efforts of the Jacuzzi
brothers; a massive spa and hot tub industry with numerous
manufacturers has developed for the benefit of consumers. The
brothers understood the advantages of moving warm water at an early
stage and went on to develop a pump that would evolve into the jets
in a standard hot tub. From these early beginnings the hot tubs of
today are very high tech with the jets placed in just the right
position for optimum relief.
The most modern tubs can be customized to
include televisions, lights, music and more. You can even install a
remote control that will turn on the tub and get the water warm
from anywhere with a cell phone; now thats convenience. You might
consider the style of hot tub that offers seating in a vertical
position. You dont always want to be in a lounging position. Spas
and hot tubs are good for whole body treatments and the water
should come to shoulder level for maximum stress relief. A hot tub
is soothing to the nerves and helpful for bladder and urinary
problems, mild colds and low fevers. A dip in the hot tub should
last at least 20 minutes.
Hot tubs magically circulate warm water
& air through a system of high pressure jets to provide
therapeutic muscle stimulation and relax anyone in the tub. These
jets are clustered to massage specific groups of muscles at the
same time.
They can be directed to stream in a moving
pattern and air can be injected for a tingling, bubbling sensation.
You can concentrate these jets in a particular body part just as a
massage therapist could do as well. Do you feel the knots in your
neck? Position the jets to pulsate on those knots and you will feel
better.
Water has such great therapeutic
properties its no wonder that more people are buying spas and hot
tubs for their master baths or backyards. You can find tubs that
are just for the two of you if you are empty nesters, or look for
one that is big enough for the whole family and the neighborhood.
Never underestimate the benefits from the warm water when it comes
to relieving stress. Dont let the stresses of the world ruin the
end of your day. Get in your spa or hot tubs and just enjoy. |

Thermogenesis is a method in which you body will increase its metabolic rate and instead of depleting your daily energy, it will use up your internal stores of energy or fat stores. Participants were put on an 1800 calorie diet, and watched over the next 18 weeks. Along with the limitation of 1800 calories, the group that took FücoTHIN lost 450% more weight than the people that took the placebo. On average the people that took FücoTHIN lost 14.5 pounds, where as the people that took the placebo lost a mere average of 3 pounds. With of that the clinical trial also proved that the supplement boosted the base metabolic rate 18.25% without stimulating the central nervous system, and without any negative side effects. |

If you become injured due to the carelessness or negligence of
another, you may be entitled to monetary compensation. Often,
victims receive their compensation in the form of a structured
settlement. A structured settlement is one that is paid over an
extended period of time rather than all at once.
Sometimes, people decide that a lump sum payment is preferable
to their structured settlement. A structured settlement can serve
as a steady source of income, but is not right for everyone. Let's
say you want to buy a home, pay off large amounts of debt, or
invest. In these cases you might decide that a lump sum payment
would benefit you more than a structured settlement. Luckily, you
have the right to sell your structured settlement in exchange for
one large payment.
The buying and selling of a structured settlement
can be a good situation for everyone involved. The injured party
gets the money they need all at once, and the settlement buyer gets
a surefire investment. It's a simple concept -- the buyer will
offer you a lump sum amount that is normally around 15% less than
the total amount of your structured settlement. This 15% is what
they end up earning after the structured settlement is
complete.
It's important to carefully consider all the pros and cons of
selling your structured settlement before making a decision. Once
you sell, you no longer have access to your structured settlement
payments, which now belong to the buyer. If you have questions
about whether or not selling your settlement is the best thing for
you, consult with a trusted financial advisor.
