I just lately snapped up a copy of Role Models Blu ray and I have to articulate it’s worse than I hoped it to would be.
Down on his luck Danny Donahue and feminizing man-child Wheeler work in concert advertising the Minotaur energy beverage to senior high pupils. But when Danny’s girl Beth ditches him because he has no maturity, his assaulting threatens to land him and Wheeler in the slammer. Their only way out is to act as mentors at Sturdy Wings.
Role Models stars the always humorous Paul Rudd. It stars too the lovely Elizabeth Banks and equally manly Seann William Scott and directed by the super David Wain. The film earned a decent $67 million at the box office since it’s opening November 2008.
Some Positive Reviews
Rafer from Newsdays writes, Rudd, who co-wrote the script with director David Wain (among others), clearly learned a few things working on Judd Apatow comedies. Peter from SF Chronicle writes, It’s hard to remember a recent comedy that piled one memorable moment after another near the ending as this one does. The USA Today writes Role Models is a rare mainstream buddy comedy that deftly blends the endearing and the vulgar and intersperses raucous humor with subtle wit.
Some Negative Recaps
Daniel of the Minneapolis Star says, Although it delivers a consistent dose of chuckles, you can’t help but wonder if Role Models falls short of its potential. Liam from the Globe and Mail writes, At times, there’s a sense the writers are trying to shoehorn sexual crudity into the plot to hit the young male market, but that feels uncomfortably out of place in a movie about helping children. Randy from the Arizona Republic writes Role Models deals in the kind of overgrown frat-boy humor that is sometimes funny, sometimes stupid. Here, it is pretty evenly split between the two camps, though stupid may have a slight edge.
The Closing blu ray movies Word
The universal opinion states that is a oftentimes suggestive, forever crazy comedy with the cast rendering solid work end-to-end.
