Dish Network or Direct TV Satellite Service

The big dilemma confronting many individuals these days is whether to choose Dish Network or Direct TV. They are both satellite TV operators and seem to have about the same coverage and amount of network selection around the USA.

Consider a few differences with the two companies, first lets review what Dish Network has to offer. With Dish Network you will have your dish either mounted on the side of your house or on a stick out in your backyard, you can generally get a choice with this but ask before you tell them you want it on a pole you may be charged extra for this. With Dish Network the major difference is that if you increase the channel count that you receive you may have to get a larger dish with more LNB’s on it. If you select any international stations you will also need to have a bigger dish with more LNB’s too.

The monthly cost for your Dish Network programming will start out at about $45 a month depending on what plan you will decide on. If you have extra receivers in other parts of the house, a DVR or have Showtime there will be an additional cost for these as well. Usually you will get a better deal on your programming when you first sign up which I do not think is right, if you have someone that has been a faithful subscriber reward them with a better option or a lower monthly rate.

If you select Direct TV for your satellite television service you will start with a dish that you will have the capability to receive as many stations as you like without needing to get a larger dish or having more LNB’s. The only time you will have to get a bigger dish for your satellite package is if you add foreign channels. Direct TV is the same for their setup as they could charge you for installing a stick to put your dish on but you might be able to negotiate a special deal with them if you ask. This pole has been known to run about $175 and I regret to say but it is not that expensive to buy that pole and install it for $200.

The regular pricing for Direct TV will begin at about $40 just like Dish TV and you will be charged $5 for any extra satellite boxess that you want in the home. The first receiver is part of the regular charge the only thing that will cost you extra is any DVR’s, more than one box and any additional movie channels that you may decide to subscribe too. Overall, the customer service is what helps make the best of a company and Direct TV rates the best.
