Dog showing is one of the most competitive animal sports there is in the world. While there are different events in dog showing, the main one is to show off the animal. The animal must be well groomed and mannered in a way that is somewhat showing of royalty and respectfulness. The dog or animal must be very attentive and trained in order to be inspected to the most interesting levels including grooming and care. The inspection usually includes full inspections of teeth, fur, and overall cleanliness. These types of shows must have the animal at top fit physique as the animal must look like a healthy animal and be well mannered. An over weight animal will never be accepted into a dog show and such a misfit would have no place in animal showing. The overall appearance of an animal is the biggest thing in a dog show where everything will matter in the end.

Inside a dog show come the more athletic events that includes going through mazes and being showed at the show. The mazes are obstacle courses that the animal must go through in order to be successful and time is everything. The faster a dog finishes the better place the dog will receive. In these competitions both animal and trainer must be in top fit condition in order to finish in a competitive ranking or even first place. The showing aspect includes a run around where the audience sees the dog as both the owner and trainer and the dog must be run around the arena to see how well the dog is mannered in walking and trotting appearance. Again, both trainer and dog must be fit enough for the run around because out of shape individuals would surely be a travesty to the dog show and make a rather interesting spectacle out of the show. Dog showing is one of the most competitive competitions between individuals and dogs alike. Dogs are primarily used over other animals and species because they are some of the most trainable and well mannered animals to show or place in a competition.

There are all different breeds of dogs used for these shows. These shows are also broadcast over television. Some dog owners spend all of their leisure time going to dog shows and entering their companion in hopes that they will win first place.
